USIPA EAS Brings IP into Creative Conversation
USIPA’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports (EAS) Committee helped bring practical IP knowledge to the creative community through the 3rd Annual Actor Empowerment Summit in Chicago, in partnership with the Illinois Intellectual Property Alliance (ILIPA), and the National Invention Ambassador Network through the joint program of the National Academy of Inventors and USPTO.
USIPA Board Members George York (Senior Vice President, Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)), D’Angelo Thompson (Hair & Makeup Artist, Emmy Award-Winner), Miriam Lord (Associate Register of Copyrights and Director of Public Information and Education, U.S. Copyright Office), and Erwin Cruz (ILIPA Chair and National Invention Ambassador, National Academy of Inventors (NAI)), led a session on “Protecting Your Career & Work: A Creator IP Case Study,” sharing practical insights on ownership, contracts, collaborations, and protecting creative work.

Michelson IP Institute
This month, USIPA is excited to highlight the Michelson Intellectual Property Institute (Michelson IP), an initiative of the Michelson 20MM Foundation dedicated to democratizing access to intellectual property education. Michelson IP empowers students, educators, budding inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and creators with a working knowledge of intellectual property topics. Through accessible educational resources covering patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and other areas of intellectual property, Michelson IP helps learners better understand and protect their ideas and innovations.
