GDPR PRIVACY POLICY

At the United States Intellectual Property Alliance (USIPA), we are committed to being transparent about the data we collect about you, why we collect it, how we process it, and who we share it with. We take the utmost care in handling your data and ensuring that your privacy is safeguarded.

By using our website/products/services, you consent to our use of your data as stated here in this privacy policy. The policy applies to any registered user or visitor to the USIPA website including any mobile views, web applications, web pages blog pages, registration pages and any other services we provide.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE

While using our Platform, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to your name, email, title, employer and interests ("Personal Information").

INFORMATION WE GATHER IS THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE US:

When you make a request to participate in our programs, volunteer, donate, subscribe to our email newsletter or contact us through contact-us inquiry form you provide the following details:

Name – This is used during communications in order to address you.

Email – This is required to create a unique account in our platform and to add you to our newsletter list for product /company / marketing / for sending newsletter / product and promotional updates.

Phone Number – This is to communicate with you about new features/ promotions / support/ updates or any other real time inquiry you may have.

It is up to you whether you want to provide this information. Providing this information helps you get more relevant experiences, features, custom content and tailored tips to make your USIPA experiences better.

BILLING

If you purchased any of our program tickets, made a donation or purchased a sponsorship or membership, then we may ask you about your credit card details along with other billing information (like company name and address). These are required to authorize the payment and also to generate invoices. The credit card and other payment information is not stored with USIPA. We encrypt the information and share it with the payment gateway to process the transaction.

VISITOR INFORMATION

When you visit a web destination on our platform, we may store some or all of the following: the Internet address from which you access the web site, date and time, the Internet address of the web site from which you linked to our site, the name of the file or words you searched, items clicked on a page, and the browser and operating system used. This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various sections of our site and identify system performance or problem areas. We also use this information to help us expand the coverage of the site, to analyze patterns of usage, and to make the site more useful. However, this information is not used for associating search terms or patterns of site navigation with individual users. On occasion, USIPA may provide this information to third party entities it contracts with for the purposes of research analysis.

The collected data is used to send the requested content and/or newsletters and we do not sell this data to any third parties.

SERVICE USAGE DATA

For improvement purposes, we keep anonymous records of your visit to our webs platform and blogs. The records include data such as the number of visits and time spent on pages, interactions like clicks on buttons or links, as well as search terms.

Device information, and data on your operating system and web browser are also anonymously collected and aggregated to ensure the best performance of our site.

Part of the above information is also temporarily stored in cookies.

Whenever you visit any of our pages, we receive the URL of the pages that you came from and the destination page that you landed on. As part of the page request, we collect your IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and/or ISP and mobile data provider. This data is collected anonymously and aggregated without any personal information to attribute against.

For improvement purposes we may keep anonymous records of your visit to our web platform and your usage. Usage includes interactions like clicks on buttons or links, feature usage.

COOKIES

In exceptional circumstances persistent cookies may be employed, but they are never used for tracking users’ queries or navigation through the site

DISABLING COOKIES

You can disable cookies by changing the settings on your web browser. However disabling cookies will result in disabling certain functionalities in our web platform since some of the functionalities require the use of cookies to work.

THIRD PARTY COOKIES

We also set cookies from trusted third parties (called third party cookies) to provide some functionality.

These cookies are used to monitor and measure site performance, page visits, and support live chat with our sales and support teams.

We use social media buttons and/or plugins on our site to allow you to connect with us via your social accounts. Those plugins set their own cookies as outlined in their privacy policies.

USE OF DATA

We may use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that is used for marketing purposes.

We will contact you periodically to communicate about account changes (including password reset, account deletion etc), billing reminders, invoices, to answer support queries, availability of services, network updates or other web platform related issues, security updates, legal and policy updates. You cannot opt out of receiving these critical updates from us.

Apart from critical communications, we may reach out to notify you about platform updates and program announcements (including new events, changes to offerings, fundraising initiatives, etc.), send newsletters and provide IP tips via email. You can opt out of this communication anytime.

NEWSLETTER COMMUNICATION

We may contact you through email only if you have opted in to receive communication via this channel. Our Newsletter communication is powered by Mailchimp. We store your contact information and name to email you with the communications you have opted to receive.

As a registered user of the USIPA web platform, you can change your email communication preferences. You can also change your communication preferences to any newsletter you might have subscribed to.

MARKETING

We use data about our registered users and visitors to support communications and campaigns to promote subscription, fundraising and engagement with our web platform, products and services. We do not sell your data to anyone.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

We use data including qualitative feedback from registered users and the public, collected via web surveys, polls or other means to conduct research and development to improve our web platform, products and services. You are not obligated to participate in these research processes and you can choose to provide your feedback in any way that is convenient to you.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT

We use your data including your usage, communications, and interactions with us to investigate, resolve and respond to any issues or complaints you have with our products or services. This data is also used for quality assurance and to improve our customer support processes.

LAWFUL PROCESSING
